The GREEN Project
GREEN is an Interreg IVA Cross Border project between Norway and Sweden. GREEN, GRenseløst ENergisamarbeid, means “Borderless Energy Cooperation” between ski resorts. The main objective of the project is to increase rationale use of energy and renewable energy systems in ski resorts to reduce the environmental impact of winter sports activities in the Inner Scandinavian skiing resorts.
The project will work on collecting data, developing methods and introducing and promoting realistic measures for a more rational use of energy. These activities will help the companies in mountain areas of Inner Scandinavia to decrease their energy use. GREEN is a 3-year project that started in June 2008.
Background of the project is the climate change situation. The participating ski resorts like to take their responsibility in showing their own efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. Sustainable development of ski resort not only contributes to cost reduction, but also creates a ‘GREENer” and more environmental friendly image, which will be an important selling proposition in future!
The responsible organisation for the Norwegian part of the project is the Municipality of Trysil. The participating ski resorts are Trysilfjellet and Fulufjellet.
The responsible organisation for the Swedish part of the project is the County Administrative Board of Dalarna. The participating ski resorts are Sälen, Kläppen, Stöten and Idre
